Nurses strike Tuesday and Wednesday for two more days to apply retroactive payment to January 2018 and the parity of his career with that of public administration graduates.

These two days of strike were called by the Union of Portuguese Nurses (SEP) and followed the first stop held on Thursday and Friday which, according to leader Guadalupe Simões, registered global participation of about 60%🇧🇷

“At least the same level of commitment is expected” for the strike, as well as the concentration planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, near the health ministry, Lusa Guadalupe Simões said.

After this stoppage, the SEP hopes that Manuel Pizarro’s ministry will make an appointment to start negotiations aimed at restore parity between nursing careers and a senior technician in public administration, arguing that there is discrimination at all pay levels.

In addition, the union is seeking payment for the replacement of career points backdated to January 2018, and not to January of this year, as recently decided by the government.

At the beginning of the month, the Ministry of Health announced that after negotiations with various unions, about 20,000 nurses would be covered by a wage progression thaw with retroactive payments until January 2022.

Advance notice of a strike provides for minimum services for “provide in emergency situations“, such as emergency care, intensive care, operating room except for elective surgeries, hemodialysis and oncology treatment, among others.
