Investments raised with golden visas in 2022 amounted to 654.2 million euros, an increase of 41.9% compared to the previous year, according to reports made by Lusa based on SEF data.

In 2022, 1,281 residence permits for investment (ARI) were issued, a program that ended 10 years ago last October.

Thus, according to the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), 94 golden visas were issued in January, 94 in February, 73 in March, 121 in April, 112 in May, 155 in June, in July – 80, in July – 77. in August, 120 in September, 83 in October, 121 in November and 151 in December.

Last year, reunited family members were granted 1,533 residence permits, 192 of them in December.

Since the creation of this instrument aimed at attracting foreign investment, the continuity of which is being assessed, 11,535 ARIs have already been allocated: in 2012 – 2, in 2013 – 494, in 2014 – 1,526, in 2015 – 766 , in 2016 – 1414, in 2017 – 1351, in 2017 – 1409. in 2018, 1245 in 2019, 1182 in 2020, 865 in 2021 and 1281 in 2022

In terms of real estate acquisitions, 10,593 visas have been issued so far and €6,041 million invested, of which €534.1 million is for urban regeneration purchases (ARI 1,485).

In terms of the capital transfer criterion, 920 capital transfers have been made to date, worth €712 million. The criterion for job creation is the award of 22 golden visas.

In the accumulation program from October 2012 to December 2022, investments amount to 6,754 million euros.

In terms of nationalities, China leads (5247), followed by Brazil (1168), Turkey (546), the United States (537) and South Africa (507).

Since the start of the program, 18,808 residence permits have been granted to reunited family members.
