As part of the 2023 state budget vote, PAN approved a proposal to combat menstrual poverty, which commits the government to develop in 2023 pilot project for the free distribution of feminine hygiene products🇧🇷
“During a year 2023The Government is developing a pilot project with local governments and civil society organizations to distribute women’s personal hygiene items free of charge, and disclosure and clarification of typologies, indications, contraindications and conditions of use”, the proposal says. The measure was approved without votes against and with abstentions from the SDP, PKP, Chega and IL.
In this year’s state budget, PS has already given way to other proposals related to menstruation, namely Livre with a study to assess the impact of menstruation on work and quality of life. But he turned down all offers — from PAN, Bloco de Esquerda, PCP and Chega — to distribute menstrual hygiene products for free. A three-day menstrual holiday proposed by Ines Souza Real’s party was also rejected.
Study, training, menstruation again and the only deputy who guaranteed many hours of debate. 2nd day of voting on the budget
Block has already managed to see an item approved in this year’s budget to promote information campaigns about the menstrual cycle, the use and variety of “menstrual fees” by the school community. The proposal rejected clauses that provided for the free distribution of menstrual collection funds to health centers, schools and institutions of higher education, as well as to prisons and socially excluded groups.
