SK Líšeň is clearly serious about attacking the fight for promotion among the elite: following the example of the first league players (Banik, Bohemians, České Budějovice, Hradec Kralove, Slovacko, Olomouc, Teplice), the Brno club will travel to Turkey for the winter training camp for the first time in its history. The “semi-professiol” cadres will spend a week in Antalya in February. Already without the 26-year-old Gabonese midfielder Guy Reten Eleka, who is heading to Banik from Ostrava.
She rrowly missed out on the playoffs last year, with Lishen finishing fourth, one point behind Opava. Now it’s the opposite, the 2nd Brno division winters in third place with a points advantage over Varnsdorf pursuing it.
However, ambitions, that is, at least to try to play in a doubles match with a team from the first league, do not seem to change. This is evidenced by the fact that Lishen for the first time in the history of the club will go to a weekly training camp abroad. Its players will spend the period from February 10 to 17 in Turkey, where many FORTUNA:LIGA teams arrive.
“The guys take a week off and cover part of the costs associated with training,” explains coach Milan Valahovich, hinting that not all employees are professiols.
It will be an interesting experience and confrontation with different play styles. Two preparatory matches await Lischen in Antalya, the first opponent is already known: the leader of the Kyrgyz league Abdish-Ata Kant. The second is under negotiation.
The next day after arriving home, the Jihomoravans will play a duel with the Slovak second league Slovan Bratislava B, a week later the general game with Opava, and then the home spring premiere against Vlašim (March 4).
Lishen started winter training on Tuesday, coach Valahovic welcomed all the fans, including key midfielder Marco Matoja. Shimon Shumbera returned from a guest stay in Prostějov.
On the other hand, Guy Reteno Eleka is missing. The Gabonese winger, who played just 241 minutes in F:NL this fall and is no longer a major building block compared to previous years, is heading to Banica’s reserves. After all, he was most successful in the MSFL in the past, both in Liszno and in Blansk and Otrokovice.
“He has been in the Czech Republic for a long time. He will also have non-football duties with us, he will take care of the boys who will come to us from Africa to try,” explains Milan Chalupa, coach of Beceka Ostrava.
Like a year ago, Slezani is waiting for a training camp in Tabor in South Bohemia. Despite the plan to fight for promotion to the second league, both guys have moved up a notch: Jan Fulnek will be a guest in Vyskov, and Filip Sotornik in Chrudim.
