CT averts shame: Chapek insulted the viewer, Zaruba apologizes!

Must read

This “praise” is definitely not a success! During the TV broadcast of the Qatar Championship, a spectator came to the studio, and sports editor Pavel Capek (64) asked her opinion about the match between Cameroon and Switzerland. He then commented on her words in an unreasonable way. Chief commentator Robert Zaruba immediately began to extinguish his “rocket shot”.

“I’ll ask you one more question, did you watch the match between Switzerland and Cameroon? If so, how did you like the match? – Chapek asked the viewer who called the studio on the Kavchi Gory. “I liked the match. I only watched the second half, but I thought it was pretty good football. There may have been better, but it was good football.” commented the sports fan.

Capek immediately blurted out a phrase that seemed to indicate not only to the viewer, but also to other women, that her knowledge of football is usually not very general: “Well, that’s… a very good mark for a woman, I must commend you.

It didn’t take long for people on social media to lament the fact that anyone these days dares to judge people’s knowledge based on their gender. The chief commentator of the sports edition, Robert Zaruba, clearly went too far: “Wrong suggestion, sorry.”

But this was not enough for some commentators, and one of them turned on Twitter not only to Chapek, but also to ChT, and to Zaruba himself for not being able to find high-quality moderators.

But the legendary commentator was able to defend his colleague after a poor choice of words: “You write insults in vain. Pavel Chapek is an experienced and good TV journalist. Since I follow the development of adherents of sports journalism very closely, I have a fairly general overview, as well as many comparisons. And for reference: KT does not have a single crown from the state budget on the contrary, he spends quite a lot.”

It should be added that the Czech Republic has already experienced major upheavals in terms of women and football this year. Club Pribram made a video in which Team A players had to share their opinion on women’s football, and some of them certainly didn’t stick to the wall with their opinion: “Probably, this is not really a sport for girls, rather, they should pay more attention to the plate. But if they like it, then why not. said, for example, Tomas Dochekal.
