People applauded her courage, but now she is in for hard times. Less than a year ago, Hodonin club boss Libuše Steklo pointed out coach Martina Sablikova, suspecting that he falsified the reports he submitted to the association. Internet list of messages it has now emerged that while the waters around coach Novak appear calm, at least on the surface, the association has taken serious steps against Stekla.

This year, Libuše Steklo filed a criminal complaint against coach Petr Nowak after she suspected a number of irregularities in the reporting that coach Martina Sablikova submitted to the association. According to the head of the club “Godonin”, for example, the prices for rooms appeared in the bills for accommodation, different from those in which the skaters actually stayed during the training camp. In addition, Novak had to report on payments for a full pension, although the athletes, according to some evidence, cooked their own food.

Application for an exception

And although the trade union does not seem to be taking any concrete steps against Novak, Stekla has already felt the first consequences of her actions. The union went so far as to propose that Coach Hodonin be expelled “because of damage to the union’s reputation”. But in the end, this could not happen, because she is not a member and only her entire club is registered.

However, this year Stekla did not receive an allowance for the activities of her club. And the union also limited the finances for her son, who had previously supported several hundred thousand a year. However, since his mother filed a criminal complaint against Novak, he did not receive any money, and Stekla herself has to pay for her son’s education, which will cost about 650,000 crowns.

Financial stop sign

According to the head of the control commission of the trade union, Iva Zaichkova, this is a mistake: “A prospective competitor should receive financial support regardless of disagreements.” At the same time, it is clear that Lukasz Stekly showed very good results. Last year he reached the limit for participation in the Olympic Games, and at the World Championships he is between 5th and 6th place. “So Lukasz is not some inept son, and I’m definitely not a humiliated mother,” said Seznam Zprávám Steklá, whose previous actions apparently led to a police search of the union. Throughout the case, he guarded himself with silence and more or less did not comment on this issue.
