The Volkswagen Group believes strongly in CUPRA, invests heavily in the Catalan high-performance brand, and the results are all visible: Sales increased by 93% in 2022. It is a real financial milestone for SEAT SA.
CUPRA 2022 with 152,900 cars delivered, 92.7% growth compared to the previous year, at which time deliveries had stopped at 79,300. An extraordinary result has come in a very difficult year between the geopolitical crises and the semiconductor shortage that continues to plague the automotive industry. In total, SEAT SA closed 2022 with the delivery of 385,600 vehicles, down 18.1% compared to 2021, when 470,500 vehicles reached customers.
SEAT SA’s main market remains there Germany sold 105,300 units, +1.2% compared to 2021. Spain is the second most important country with 62,900 cars at -23.1%, followed by the United Kingdom, with 36,600 units sold at -27.9%. In any case, Italy surpassed France in terms of volume, in fact it sold 25,300 units at -8.6% compared to 2021instead, the decline was 31.1% due to the chip crisis beyond the Alps.
But now back to CUPRA’s unstoppable success: Formentor alone sold 97,600 units, i.e. 63.8% of the total (here you will find all the articles dedicated to the CUPRA Formentor, a car we tested in every possible way). The CUPRA Born, which we are currently testing in the e-Boost version, was the second most requested model with 31,400 units (minor update for CUPRA Born 2023).
