Russia blames Kyiv for a new series of attacks on the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, as fighting intensifies on the Kinborn peninsula, and the Russian air force launched strikes on Kherson.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said Ukraine attacked the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant again as a “provocation”, claiming Kyiv-led forces were trying to “create the threat of catastrophe.”

“The radiation situation at the nuclear power plant is still normal,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, adding that, however, shelling attributed to Ukrainians in Zaporizhzhia was a matter of “extreme concern” in Moscow.

On Monday, the IAEA said that despite heavy bombing of the plant in Zaporozhye over the weekend, “there are no immediate security concerns.”

The condition of six reactor units is stable, the integrity of spent fuel, fresh fuel and radioactive waste of low, medium and high activity in the respective warehouses has been confirmed,” the IAEA said in a statement.

Four international experts who are stationed at the largest nuclear power plant in Europe under Russian occupation first received information from the management and then conducted an inspection to see firsthand the damage caused by the explosions on Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday, Grossi considered the attacks on the Zaporozhye power plant to be “absolutely deliberate, targeted” and classified the situation as “extremely serious.”

“A good dozen attacks” fell in the centeraccording to Grossi, who, without blaming either Russian or Ukrainian forces, was outraged that there are those who consider the nuclear power plant a “legitimate military target”.

On Tuesday, the activity of Ukrainian forces was concentrated in the Mykolaiv region to try to retake the occupied territory, while Moscow retaliates due to the expulsion of its forces from Kherson.

“We still have to take three points on the Kinburn Peninsula” before the complete liberation of the Nikolaev region, – said the governor of the region Vitaly Kim.

On Monday, the press secretary of the Southern Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Natalya Gumenyuk, said that “a military operation is being conducted” on the said peninsula “in silent mode.”

The capture by the Ukrainian army of the last three villages of Nikolaevshchina, recaptured from Russian troops, is an important victory for Kyiv, a few days after the expulsion of Muscovite troops from Kherson, the main city occupied until that moment.

However, Ukrainian authorities said on Tuesday that the Russian Air Force carried out new strikes in 12 districts of the Kherson region, which killed at least three people and injured seven more.

In recent days, Russia has already been bombing the region in retaliation for the November 11 expulsion of its army by Ukrainian forces.
