This Thursday marks nine months since Russian troops invaded Ukraine on February 24. After 274 days of war, the European Union continues to support Ukraine, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Block 27 is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia.

“We are working hard to strike at Russia where it suffers the most and further undermine Ukraine’s ability to finance the war. I can announce that we are working at full speed on the ninth package of sanctions.” On the same day, the European Parliament approved a loan of 18 billion euros to Ukraine.

Nine months after the start of the conflict, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko asked Ukraine to conclude an agreement with Russia to end the war, warning that otherwise the country would be completely destroyed. “We have to stop. We must put an end to this. Because this will be followed by the total destruction of Ukraine,” he warned in front of a group of Russian journalists on the sidelines of the post-Soviet CSTO summit.

This Thursday, Russia and Ukraine confirmed a new prisoner exchange in which 50 soldiers from both sides were released. On Wednesday, another exchange has already taken place between the two countries, during which 36 Ukrainians and 35 Russians were released.
