US wins inaugural United Cup tennis tournament

A tennis team from the United States won this Sunday the first edition of the United Cup, a mixed competition that took place in several Australian cities, after beating Italy in the final.

In the final in Sydney, the Americans prevailed after winning the first three games played, with Jessica Pegula winning first, beating Marina Trevisan 6-4 and 6-2.

The third number in the world ranking defeated the 27th in the pecking order in a match decided after an hour and 30 minutes, followed by the victory of Francis Tiafoe in the game against Lorenzo Musetti.

Tiafoe, number 19 in the world rankings, beat the 23rd in the ATP hierarchy in the first “set” with a score of 6: 2, and later the Italian tennis player withdrew from the match due to shoulder problems.

From triumph to victory in the competition, it was time for Taylor Fritz, world number 9, to take on Matteo Berrettini, number 16 in the pecking order, with Fritz winning by 7–6 (7–4) and 7–6 (8). -6), securing the victory of North America.
