ANA Aeroportos announced on Tuesday that it will continue funding the insulation of the facades of 22 particularly vulnerable buildings in the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures, including schools and hospitals, to reduce the impact of aircraft noise.
“Let’s start this year with the insulation of the facades of important buildings”Thierry Ligonier, executive chairman of the Vinci group airport manager, said at a hearing in the Assembly of the Republic at the request of the PSD parliamentary group.
However, the ANA argues that funding for this measure to reduce aircraft noise among the affected population should be done in a “polluter pays” manner, i.e. by charging airlines or earmarking funds from an environmental tax.
According to the official, ANA will continue funding the isolation of 22 particularly vulnerable buildings in the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures, including two schools, two kindergartens, 11 departments of the Centro Hospitalar Psiquiátrico de Lisboa, two ISCTE buildings. – Instituto University of Lisbon, pavilion of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, a teaching academy, two medical buildings and a Youth Support Center.
